Windows XP - Creating a Connection

 

Please login using an Administrator account or an Administrator access account.

  1. For Win XP Pro users:
    1. On the Windows Desktop, click on Start > My Network Places.

    2. On the left side, click on View Network Connections


    For Win XP Home users:
    1. There will be no My Network Places option available.
    2. Click on Control Panel

    3. On the right side, click on Network and Internet Connections

    4. Click on the Network Connections icon.

  2. On the left side, click on Create a new connection

  3. A window will appear. Click on the Next > button.

  4. Select the option Connect to the Internet and click on the Next > button.

  5. Select the option Set up my connection manually and click on the Next > button.



  6. Select the option Connect using a dial-up modem and click on the Next > button.



  7. Type in WebcomUS Communications under the ISP Name and click on the Next > button.



  8. Type in the phone number that you will be using to connect to WebcomUS Communications and click on the Next > button.



  9. Type in your UserID and Password.



  10. Click on the option Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop if you want to create a shortcut on the desktop.
  11. Click on the Finish button.

  12. A new dialer is created in the Network Connections.
  13. A connection shortcut icon will appear at the Windows desktop.
  14. You've successfully setup the WebcomUS Communications connection.

 

 

 

 

Windows XP - Connecting

 

  1. On your Windows desktop, double click on Start > Connect To > WebcomUS Communications.
  2. Type in your WebcomUS Communications user id and password and click on the Dial button.



  3. Please wait while the modem starts to dial and then verifies your user id and password.
  4. Once connected, an icon of two blinking computers will appear at the taskbar.



  5. Double clicking on this icon will open the WebcomUS Communications Status window.



  6. To end your connection, simply click on the Disconnect button found on the WebcomUS Communications Status window.

 

 

Windows NT - Installing Remote Access Service

 

Before you proceed with the setup, make sure you have the original version of the Windows NT Server Installation CD-ROM is with you and you are logged in as an Administrator.

  1. Double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. Double click on the Control Panel icon.
  3. Double click on the Network icon.
  4. Click on the Services tab and then click on the Add... button.

  5. The Network Service window opens. Select Remote Access Service and click on the OK button.

  6. The Remote Access Setup prompt opens. Click on the Yes button to proceed.

  7. The Add RAS Device window opens. Click on the small 'down-arrow' to select on the correct Modem Drive in the RAS Capable Services.
  8. Click on the OK button to continue.

  9. The Remote Access Setup window opens and displays the device that you just added.
  10. Highlight the device and click on the Configure... button to proceed.

  11. Under the item Port Usage, select Dial out only and click on the OK button.

  12. You will be brought back to the Remote Access Setup window.
  13. Click on the Continue button.
  14. You will then be brought back to the Network window.

  15. Click on the OK button to complete the installation.
  16. Windows will then prompt you to insert your installation CD-ROM and a PC restart. Just follow the instructions given by the CD-ROM.
Windows NT - Installing Network Components

 

Before you proceed with the setup, make sure you have the original version of the Windows NT Server installation CD-ROMs with you and you are logged in as an Administrator.

  1. Double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. Double click on the Control Panel icon.
  3. Double click on the Network icon.
  4. The Networks window opens. Click on the Protocols tab and click on the Add... button.

  5. The Select Network Protocol window opens. Select TCP/IP Protocol click on the Add... button.

  6. You will be brought back to the Network window, however, you will see that the TCP/IP Protocol is now listed.

  7. Click on the Close button.
Windows NT - Creating a Connection

 

  1. Double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. Double click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.



  3. If you are running Dial-Up Networking for the fist time, you will be prompted that your phonebook is empty. Click the OK button to continue.



  4. Type in WebcomUS Communications in the entry box "Name the new phonebook entry".



  5. Select the option "I am calling in the Internet" and click on the Next > button.



  6. In the Phone number entry box, enter your WebcomUS Communications dial-up number.
  7. Click on the Next button.




  8. Click on the Finish button to complete the setup.

 

 

 

 

Windows NT - Connecting

 

  1. Double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. Double click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.




  3. Click on the Dial button to connect.
  4. The Connect to  Dial Up window opens.









  5. Once the server verifies your account, you will be connected.

  6. To see the details of your connection, open up the Dial-Up Networking Monitor window.

 

  • Once you finish using your Dial Up connection and wish to end your session, click on the Hang up button to disconnect the connection.

 

 

 

Windows ME - Installing Dial-Up Networking

 

Before you proceed with the setup, make sure you have the original version of Windows ME Installation CD-ROM with you.

  1. Go to your Windows taskbar and click on Start > Settings > Control Panel

  2. The Control Panel window opens. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.

  3. When the Add/Remove Programs Properties window opens, click on Windows Setup tab.
  4. Highlight the Communications item and click on the Details... button.

  5. The Communications window opens. Check the Dial-Up Networking option. Make sure that the box besides it is checked.
  6. Click on the OK button.

  7. Click on Apply and then on the OK button.

  8. Windows ME will then prompt you to insert your Windows Me CD-ROM. Please follow the instructions given on the screen to complete the installation.
  9. Dial-Up Networking installation for Windows Me completed.

 

 

 

Windows ME - Creating a Connection
 

Before you proceed with the setup, make sure you have the original version of Windows Installation CD-ROM with you.

  1. Go to your Windows Desktop and click on Start > Settings > Dial-Up Networking.

  2. The Dial-Up Networking window opens. Double click on the Make New Connection icon.

  3. The Make New Connection window opens.

  4. Enter WebcomUS Communications in the entry box and click on the Next > button to continue.

  5. In the Telephone number entry box, enter your dial-up number. You can look up a dial up number in your area here.
  6. In the Country Code item, click on the down arrow and select United States() from the list.
  7. Click on the Next > button to continue.
  8. Click on the Finish button to complete the setup.
  9. You will be brought back to the Dial-Up Networking window, there should be one additional icon named WebcomUS Communications in the folder.

 

 

 

Windows ME - Connecting

 

  1. Go to your Windows Desktop and click on Start > Settings > Dial-Up Networking.




  2. The Dial-Up Networking window opens. You will see the WebcomUS Communications icon.
  3. Double click on the WebcomUS Communications icon.
  4. The Connect To window opens. As you can see there are five entry items on this window.

    • WebcomUS Communications: Dialer/Account that you are using to connect
    • Username: Enter your WebcomUS Communications UserID here
    • Password: Enter your WebcomUS Communications Password here
      (Password is case-sensitive and should be comprised of alpha-numeric characters.)
    • Phone Number: Enter your WebcomUS Communications local access number
    • Dialing From: Leave this as default.

     

  5. Click on the Connect button to connect to WebcomUS Communications.
  6. The Connecting to WebcomUS Communications window opens. Your modem will start dialing out.
  7. Once you are connected to the server, the Status: will change to Verifying username and password.
  8. Once the server has verified your username and password, you can start browsing the Internet.
  9. There will be an icon on your taskbar resembling two computers connected together.



  10. Double-clicking on this icon will open this window which shows your connection details.



  11. To end your Internet session, click on the Disconnect button.

 

 

 

Windows 95/98 - Connecting

 

  1. On your Windows desktop, double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. The My Computer window opens. Double click on the Control Panel icon.
  3. The Control Panel window appears. Double click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.




  4. The Dial-Up Networking window opens. You will see the WebcomUS Communications icon.
  5. Double click on the WebcomUS Communications icon.
  6. The Connect To window opens. As you can see there are four entry items on this window.

    Username: Enter your WebcomUS Communications UserID here
    Password: Enter your WebcomUS Communications Password here
    (Password is case-sensitive and should be comprised of alpha-numeric characters.)
    Phone Number: Enter your WebcomUS Communications local access number
    Dialing From: Leave this as default.


  7. Click on the Connect button to connect to WebcomUS Communications.
  8. The Connecting to WebcomUS Communications window opens. Your modem will start dialing out. Once you are connected to the server, the Status: will change to Verifying username and password.
  9. Once the server has verified your userid and password, you will be connected to the server.
  10. You will be able to see that there is an additional icon on your taskbar resembling two computer connected together.



  11. Double-clicking on this icon will open a window which shows your connection details. If you want to end your Internet sessions, click on the Disconnect button.

 

 

 

Windows 95/98 - Installing Dial-Up Networking

Before you proceed with the setup, make sure you have the original versions of the Windows installation CD-ROMs with you.

  1. Go to your Windows taskbar and click on Start > Settings > Control Panel
  2. The Control Panel window opens. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.

  3. When the Add/Remove Programs Properties window opens, click on Windows Setup tab.

  4. Highlight the Communications item and click on the Details... button.
  5. The Communications window opens. Check the Dial-Up Networking option. Make sure that the box beside it is checked.

  6. Click on the OK button.
  7. Windows will then prompt you to insert your installation CD-ROM. Please follow the instructions to complete the installation.
